sassyass - yes, true enough. without better descriptive material it is difficult (and the link I mention may not even be correct in this case). the collection online is new for us (as you know) and more information will go online as we have it. for now, this is what we have. if you are trying to do your own research on palette, this may be more helpful: http://tinyurl.com/5rfhg6

hi brenda - The Museum does not provide monetary appraisals. To determine the value of an object or to find an appraiser, you may contact the Art Dealers Association of America or the American Society of Appraisers.

spicytaco - yes, true enough. we have to prevent botspam and this is a blacklisted term. we are already starting to see this may be a problem, so we may make a modification soon to allow all terms if a posse member is signed in and keep the blacklist for anonymous tagging. that would solve legit tagging and prevent the spam at the same time.

Hi E-Fretez, Thanks for asking. I spoke with one of our curators here and this was her response: Both words are correct, it depends on usage: "Orientalism" refers to the 19th-century phenomenon of Western artists being fascinated with the East and depicting Eastern subjects; "Orientalist" can be used as a noun (for example, to describe an artist who practices Orientalism) or and adjective (for example, "He painted Orientalist subject matter ... "). Given her response, I think using both when tagging would help since it means people could search on either term.

I really loved the video projection on the ceiling for this show - so appropriate for the idea of BAM and Next Wave.

Hey Nina, there's the great advertisement for these chairs - they are cardboard and the ad has two of these chairs holding up a VW Beetle!

Hi Dawn, according to the record on the web, it is currently on display in our American Identities gallery on the 5th floor. However, if you are coming to see it, please check the record (see the "Museum Location" area of the record) before you come to ensure that is still the case.

Hey Erin, That's a really interesting reasoning for tagging exhibitions. We had thought about it before, but didn't really come to any conclusions about how that might be helpful. Let me see how hard it would be to add that functionality.
