Reservation Process

A group consists of at least 10 participants with a maximum number to be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Guided tours require at least three weeks' advance notice and two weeks' advance payment. Group leaders must submit a completed reservation request form via fax or U.S. mail at least three weeks prior to proposed arrival dates. Requests must provide two possible arrival dates. Tours last approximately forty-five minutes to one hour, are based on availability, and are not guaranteed until confirmed via fax or U.S. mail.

Self-guided groups that prefer to visit the permanent collection without the assistance of a Museum Guide or an Outside Lecturer can do so without advance reservation. For visits to special exhibitions, the group leader should contact the Adult Group Tours department to reserve their group tour. For both types of visits, the group leader is required to check in and pay the group admissions fees upon arrival.

Confirmation letters are mailed within one week of receipt of the completed reservation form. Confirmation letters contain detailed check-in information.

Group visits and catered meals require a minimum of three weeks' advance notice and two weeks' advance payment.

Changes to your attendee amount must be made at the time of payment. The Brooklyn Museum does not issue refunds. Please review the Museum's cancellation policy.

Payment

Payment is due two weeks prior to arrival. The exact payment due date will be indicated on the confirmation letter.

Group admission prices are applicable only to the permanent collection and non-ticketed special exhibitions. Guided tour rates include general admission fees.

Special pricing may be available for same-day guided tours of multiple exhibitions. Please inquire for pricing details.

Check-in Process

Guided-tour groups should plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tour start time.

Self-guided groups should arrive at the time indicated on the confirmation letter.

Upon arrival, group leaders must submit their confirmation letters to the Visitor Center staff. Group leaders will receive a personalized welcome packet at the Visitor Center that contains: general admission tags, floor plans, and, if applicable, lunch tickets, an outside lecturer permit, and Brooklyn Museum gift shop coupons for Cultural Ambassadors.

Cancellation Policy

The Brooklyn Museum must be notified of cancellation one calendar week prior to arrival date or all deposits will be forfeited. The Museum does not issue refunds. Groups that cancel their visit one calendar week prior to arrival will be credited for the total deposit, applicable toward a Brooklyn Museum visit within one year from the original reservation date.

Museum Café Policy

If you would like your group to purchase food from the Museum Café, they can do so by advance reservation with Group Tours. Museum Café entry times will be designated. Contact us for more details.

Outside food is not permitted in the Museum Café at any time. During the warmer months, groups may bring their own bag lunches or our Sandwich Tote Bag Lunch, "To Go" to the Sculpture Garden or the Public Plaza. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Catered Meals

The Brooklyn Museum is pleased to offer our visitors gourmet catered lunch options by Restaurant Associates (RA). RA provides dining services for many of the country's finest cultural institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Guggenheim Museum.

Groups who choose a Museum-catered meal will enjoy one-hour seating in a lovely, semi-private dining area surrounded by original artworks. Groups of more than 20 people planning to eat at the Museum are encouraged to select a catered meal.

Cultural Ambassadors

Planning multiple visits? Become a Cultural Ambassador when you bring at least five groups of 25 or more participants to the Brooklyn Museum within one year. Cultural Ambassadors will be entitled to one year’s worth of the following benefits:
